Saltscapes Restaurant

The Saltscapes Restaurant and General Store is 100 per cent locally owned and operated. Here's how we show our commitment: this building was extensively renovated using many locally sourced materials; the furniture you are sitting on came from a local sheltered workshop; the memorabilia you see around you was collected from attics and barns around the Maritimes, and even the front doorknobs were custom made for us by a local blacksmith.

Our buy-local philosophy extends to our food. Our meat and poultry come mainly from family farms close by. Our fish comes directly, and only, from environmentally sustainable sources. Breads and baked goods are either prepared on site or come from local bakeries. The distinctive items for sale in our General Store have been selected mainly from very small businesses around the region.

Please enjoy your home-grown food and retail experience

Saltscapes specializes in simple, wholesome food, locally sourced and prepared in traditional home-cooked fashion. We use authentic local recipes and ingredients. Many of the menu items on offer are inspired by recipes that have run in Saltscapes magazine, developed by the magazine's food editors and tireless promoters of local food, Marie Nightingale and Alain Bossé. We acknowledge their contributions in chronicling Atlantic Canadian culinary customs and traditions.

Innovative-approach
"The model for the Power Center is to attract businesses who want to partner with us for long-term sustainability. We work with them to structure a jointly beneficial arrangement at the outset...and then let the company focus on running the operation--to do what they have expertise in doing."
